People communicate in many different ways, from the words and tone we use, to the clothes we wear. When voices are silent, and clothes are replaced by a uniform, feelings and opinions can go unheard.

In my other projects with portraiture, I have used creative composition and lighting to allow insight in the mind or personality of the subject or to tell a story.

On this occasion I have chose to work with a uniformed group of various staff from different locations across the North-West within the NHS.

Each person was asked two simple questions – How are you? and How do you feel? They then wrote their answer on a board.

The camera is a powerful tool and allows me to bring to life people, places, voices and opinions. This project has allowed me to bring a voice those that are currently working behind the uniform, and behind the mask.
