A CHESHIRE WOODLAND HIDEAWAY

A Secret Woodland Venue ‘Just for Two’

The Love Shack sits within the Acer Glade at Moss Wood, a private woodland estate near Knutsford in the heart of Cheshire. Run by Wendy and Dominic, it’s designed exclusively for intimate elopement weddings — just the two of you, or a small gathering of family and friends — surrounded by ancient woodland, an orchard, a lake, and twinkling lights strung through the trees.

Ceremonies can take place inside The Love Shack itself, or in either of the venue’s two boutique lodges — both licensed for civil ceremonies, blessings, vow renewals, and sand or handfasting ceremonies. However you choose to say ‘I do’ here, the day comes with complete exclusivity of the lodges and grounds.

PHOTOGRAPHING ELOPEMENTS & INTIMATE WEDDINGS

An Elopement & Small-Wedding Photography Approach

Small, intimate weddings need a different approach to photography than a big traditional day — there's no long guest list to work through and no rigid schedule of formal group shots, just the two of you (and maybe a handful of the people who matter most) actually enjoying the day.

That's the kind of wedding I love photographing — relaxed, natural, and led by how the day actually unfolds rather than a tick-list of poses. A woodland venue like The Love Shack gives a huge amount to work with photographically, and I'd love to talk through how your day there could look.

Every wedding I photograph is different, but the feedback is consistent — couples say I put them at ease, work naturally around the day, and deliver galleries full of real, unposed moments. You can read the full set of reviews on my Reviews page.

PHOTOGRAPHY AT THE VENUE

Making the Most of The Love Shack

1

The woodland light is best in late afternoon — The Acer Glade’s tree canopy filters direct sun, so late afternoon and early evening tend to give the softest, most flattering light for portraits.

2

The lake makes a strong backdrop for portraits — A still lake reflecting the surrounding trees is one of the most photogenic spots on the grounds — worth setting aside a few minutes for.

3

The twinkling lights come into their own after dark — If your ceremony or celebration runs into the evening, the lit-up trees around The Love Shack and the lodges make for a completely different set of images to daytime shots.

4

Keep group shots simple — With such a small guest list, there’s no need for a long list of formal combinations — a handful of relaxed shots with whoever’s there is usually all that’s needed.

THE LOVE SHACK WEDDING FAQS

Common Questions About Getting Married at The Love Shack

The Love Shack is designed for elopements and micro-weddings — just the two of you, or a small group of family and friends, typically up to around ten guests.

Yes, the venue can also accommodate blessings, vow renewals, and sand or handfasting ceremonies for couples who don’t need a legally binding ceremony on the day.

For a venue this size, I’d usually suggest 30–45 minutes to properly cover the woodland, the lake, and the lodges without feeling rushed — though with such a relaxed, intimate day, there’s naturally more flexibility than at a large traditional wedding.

Yes — I’m based in Liverpool but regularly photograph weddings across Cheshire and the wider North West, including intimate venues like The Love Shack.
