Most of what I share here is photography, weddings, portraits, corporate headshots, the odd drone shoot over the Mersey. But for the last few months I’ve had a second workbench going alongside the camera gear: a 3D printer, and a growing collection of hand-finished pieces sold under a separate brand, Home Forge Studio.
It started as a way to solve small problems around my own shoots. The first proper product to come off the print bed was a battery holder for the Canon LP-E6, the battery I use on every job. I was tired of loose cells rattling around in my kit bag. From there it grew into its own thing: home décor, jewellery, nursery pieces, all printed to order and finished by hand in a small studio here in Liverpool. Nothing sits on a shelf waiting to be bought, each piece is made after it’s ordered.
If you’ve booked a shoot with me, you’ve already met the person behind Home Forge Studio, even if you didn’t know it. Same standards, same “get it right, not just get it done” approach, just applied to a print bed instead of a camera body.
Have a look at what’s currently on the bench, including that battery holder if you’re a fellow photographer who’s tired of the same rattle: homeforgestudio.co.uk. You can also follow the studio on Instagram for behind-the-scenes from the print bed.
