Getting married at St Mary's, Knowsley Village? I’m Leon Britton, an award-winning Liverpool wedding photographer with experience at this venue — this page covers what to expect from your wedding photography here.
St Mary’s Church sits on Knowsley Lane in Knowsley Village, built between 1841 and 1844 for the 13th Earl of Derby to a design by architect Edmund Sharpe, and consecrated in 1844 by the Bishop of Chester. It’s an active Anglican parish church, and one of the prettiest village-church settings in Merseyside for a wedding.
Marriage registers here go back to 1844, and the church continues to host weddings for couples from Knowsley and further afield today.

The church’s setting within the village is a genuine asset — the surrounding stone cottages and greenery make for a classic, unhurried arrival and departure sequence beyond just the church door.
Interior light is soft and even through the day — well suited to natural, documentary-style ceremony coverage without needing much additional lighting.
St Mary’s conducts Anglican wedding ceremonies; most couples then move on to a separate venue for their reception. I’m happy to cover both, wherever your reception is held.
As early as possible — I only take on two full weddings a month, so popular dates and venues like this one can book up well ahead of time.
