Getting married at St Bridget's, Wavertree? I’m Leon Britton, an award-winning Liverpool wedding photographer with experience at this venue — this page covers what to expect from your wedding photography here.
St Bridget’s Church stands on Bagot Street in Wavertree, Liverpool. Its foundation stone was laid in 1868 and the church was consecrated in 1872, designed by architect E. A. Heffer in the style of an Italianate basilica — a genuinely striking design that sets it apart from the more typical Gothic Revival churches common across Merseyside.
It’s a Grade II* listed building and remains an active Anglican parish church in the Diocese of Liverpool, serving Wavertree and the surrounding area today.

The Italianate basilica design is unusual for a Liverpool church — worth taking a few extra wide shots of the building itself — it photographs quite differently from the city’s more typical Gothic Revival churches.
Wavertree’s surrounding streets have some nice period backdrops nearby — useful if you want a few portraits beyond the churchyard itself.
St Bridget’s conducts Anglican wedding ceremonies; I’m happy to cover your ceremony here and follow on to your reception venue afterwards.
As early as possible — I only take on two full weddings a month, so it’s worth getting in touch as soon as your date is confirmed.
