Since opening my photography studio at The Secret Warehouse in Liverpool, I’ve been fortunate enough to be not only nominated for, but to win, several awards recognising the quality of my work and the experience I offer clients. I don’t share this to boast — but because, when you’re choosing who to trust with your important moments, recognition is one useful signal among several.
What the awards represent
An award isn’t really about a trophy on a shelf. It’s external validation of consistency — of delivering quality work and a genuinely positive experience, session after session. Awards bodies look at the standard of the images, the professionalism, and what clients say. So when my work is recognised, it reflects the things I care most about: the photography itself, and how people feel during a shoot.
Recognition earned with my clients
Honestly, this kind of recognition is only possible because of the people who trust me with their headshots, weddings, portraits and events. Every session is a small collaboration, and the work that wins awards is work we create together. So these acknowledgements belong to my clients as much as to me.
Why it matters when choosing a photographer
When you’re deciding who to book, awards sit alongside reviews and portfolio as part of the picture. They suggest a track record and a reliable standard — reassurance that you’re trusting your moments to someone whose work stands up to outside scrutiny.
The same standard, every session
Awards don’t change how I work; they simply reflect it. Whether it’s a quick headshot or a full wedding day, the commitment is identical: a relaxed experience and images you’ll genuinely love.
More than a moment of pride
Recognition is lovely, but the awards have never been the point of this work for me — the moment a nervous client sees their photos and lights up, or a couple relives their wedding through the gallery, will always mean more than any trophy. The awards simply confirm, from the outside, that focusing relentlessly on those moments is the right thing to do.
So I take a quiet moment of pride in the recognition, and then get straight back to the work that earned it: putting people at ease and delivering images they’re proud of, one session at a time.
