Across every type of work I do — headshots, portraits, weddings, commercial — the clients who come back, and who recommend me to others, tend to mention the same thing. It’s rarely just the photos. It’s how the whole experience felt. So if you’ve never worked with me and you’re wondering what to expect, here’s an honest picture.
It starts with a conversation
Every session begins not with the camera, but with a chat — about what you need the images for, how you’d like to come across, and any worries you’ve got. Most people lead with “I’m terrible in front of a camera”, and that’s completely fine. Knowing that just tells me where to put my attention first.
Nervous to at ease
If there’s one pattern I see more than any other, it’s this: people arrive nervous and leave delighted. The shift usually happens in the first few minutes, once you see an early shot you actually like and realise it’s going to be okay. From there, with a bit of direction and no pressure to “perform”, you relax — and that’s exactly when the best images appear.
A collaboration, not a conveyor belt
I don’t rush people through. You’ll see images as we go, we’ll adjust together, and you’ll have a say throughout. You know how you want to be seen; my job is to make the camera show that. It’s a partnership, and I think the results are better for it.
Results you’re genuinely happy with
The aim is simple: photographs that look like the best, most natural version of you — and an experience that was far more enjoyable than you expected walking in. That combination is what keeps clients coming back.
