171 Reviews, All 5 Stars — Here’s What Clients Actually Say

I want to tell you something I’ve noticed after six years of reading the reviews clients leave me on Google.

The words change. The names change. The type of session changes — headshots, weddings, corporate shoots, actor portfolios. But the story is almost always the same.

Nervous going in. Quickly put at ease. Delighted with what came out.

That pattern isn’t an accident, and it isn’t something I planned. It’s something I noticed after a few hundred sessions and started paying attention to. Because if the single most consistent thing clients say about working with me is that they arrived nervous and left pleased — not just with the photos, but with the whole experience — then that’s not really about photography. It’s about what happens in the room.

Here’s what my clients actually say, in their own words.

“I was nervous — but then…”

This is probably the most common sentence in my reviews. In every form. From every type of client.

Isabella Fox, who booked her first ever headshot session, put it simply: “This was my first time getting headshots done, and as soon as I walked through the door I felt so relaxed.”

Robyn B said: “I was really nervous but Leon was so lovely and had me laughing throughout. The headshot photos came out amazing.”

Mal Blackburne gave it to me with more honesty than most: “OK — here’s the thing. When you look like I do, sitting for a photoshoot is not the most enjoyable experience.” What followed was not what he expected.

I get it. Most people who book a headshot session aren’t comfortable in front of a camera. They’re doing it because they need to — for their career, their LinkedIn, their business — not because they love being photographed. Coming in with nerves is completely normal. My job is to make those nerves irrelevant before the camera gets involved.

What Clients Say About the Process

Actor and performer clients are often the ones who are most attuned to what a session feels like, because they understand instinctively that what you project in an image has to be real to read as real.

Jasmin Scanlon described booking her headshots as “honestly the best decision I have ever made — I was debating having my pictures taken for a while due to not liking being in front of a camera.”

Michael Hidderley, who came in for acting headshots, said: “From the moment I arrived, Leon made me feel completely at ease.”

Adam Edmunds put it as directly as I could ask: “Not enough positives that I can say about Leon. Professional, creative, funny — and he truly knows what he’s doing.”

Christiane Payne described something I take as one of the best compliments I receive: “His ability to capture your personality and make the shooting easy is unique.”

What Returning Clients Say

The reviews I value most are from people who came back.

Sam Weaver: “This was my second time having a headshot done with Leon, and I wouldn’t go anywhere else.”

Eve Kinsley: “It was my second time coming to Leon for headshots and he was just as great as I remember.”

Carrie Simone: “I have now taken part in two photo sessions with Leon across the past 5 years and been very pleased with the results.”

Claire Ierston brought her family back: “I took my son and daughter back to Leon for another photoshoot — we have been a few times now.”

Returning clients are the most honest feedback a photographer can get. Anyone can have a good session once. Coming back — and bringing people with you — is a different kind of endorsement.

What Business Clients and Corporate Teams Say

A significant part of my work is with businesses — team headshots, commercial shoots, events, brand photography. The expectations in those contexts are different: consistency, reliability, a photographer who can work quickly with a large group without disrupting the day.

Messages PR, who worked with me on imagery for The Strand Shopping Centre in Bootle, described me as “a great photographer with the artistry, skill and patience to get the shots we needed.”

Ross Hoare, who booked a company headshot session for his team, said: “He did a great job of making everyone feel at ease” — there’s that phrase again, in a completely different context.

The Events Team who booked me for a corporate event noted something that I know matters to businesses: “The pictures were sent on the same day. We have already booked him in for our next event in September.”

GreenSwitch Capital: “We hired Leon for our professional photoshoot for our business website. He was incredibly accommodating and professional.”

What Wedding Clients Say

Lee Parkes wrote a review that I still think about:

“I cannot put into words just how amazing Leon was on our wedding day. To spend the day completely stress free…”

Dominic Pike: “Leon photographed our wedding and I can’t recommend him highly enough — goes above and beyond in every way and helps settle everybody’s nerves.”

Natasha Glassock was honest about something couples don’t always admit upfront: “My husband and I aren’t posy people and we just wanted to…” — and what followed was a wedding photography experience built around who they actually are, not who a photographer wanted them to be.

What This Actually Means for You

I have 171 reviews on Google, every one of them five stars, going back to 2020. I don’t say that to boast. I say it because it means something specific: across hundreds of sessions, with hundreds of different people in very different contexts — professional headshots, weddings, actor portfolios, corporate events — the experience of walking into that studio has been consistently good enough that people felt moved to come online and say so.

The common thread isn’t the lighting or the equipment. It’s the process — the brief before every session, the three words we identify together, the time we take before the camera becomes the focus. Getting relaxed isn’t incidental to getting a great photo. It’s the whole thing.

If you’ve been putting off booking because you’re not comfortable in front of a camera, or because you’re not sure how you’ll come across, or because the last photo someone took of you didn’t look right — that’s exactly why most of my clients book. You’re not unusual for feeling that way. And you’re in good company.
