Do we Retouch & Edit Our Portraits?
Absolutely — all of our portraits are professionally edited as standard.
The extent of retouching depends on you, your preferences, and what the images are for. Our approach is always subtle and natural — the aim is to help you look well-rested, confident, and at your best, without losing what makes you you.
Typical portrait retouching includes:
Fixing flyaway or stray hairs
Softening eye bags or dark circles
Removing temporary blemishes like spots or redness
Gentle skin smoothing and tone adjustments
Brightening eyes and whitening teeth
Natural colour correction for a polished, cohesive look
As a general rule, if something won’t be noticeable in six months, we’ll tidy it up. We never over-edit or apply filters that feel unnatural — the goal is to keep your portraits honest, timeless, and true to character.
We don’t provide unedited images, simply because we want you to receive finished work that reflects our quality standards and attention to detail. Every final portrait we deliver has been carefully retouched to help you feel confident and proud of the results.
What happens at a
Portrait Session ?
Every portrait session starts with understanding why you want the image — whether it’s to mark a personal milestone, capture a certain mood, or simply enjoy the experience of being photographed. This helps us tailor the shoot to suit your style, whether you prefer something formal, relaxed, artistic or understated.
During your time in the studio, we’ll capture between 100 and 400 images, reviewing as we go to make sure we’re hitting the right tone and creating a varied set of portraits. You’ll be guided throughout — from posing and lighting to small adjustments that make all the difference.
After the session, your images will be uploaded to a private online proofing gallery where you can review everything in your own time. Once you’ve selected your favourites and confirmed your package, we’ll edit your chosen portraits with care and precision before delivering them via a secure download link. This link remains active for seven days, so be sure to download your files within that time.

– Our spacious studio / shooting space is located within the Secret Warehouse, Liverpool L20. Full of character and great for location shots not only in our studio but also around the warehouse.
– There’s plenty of ‘free’ street parking available nearby and local transport links and the nearest train station (Bank Hall) are only several minutes walk away.
– For each portrait session we set up a minimum of five different indoor background options, at the same time.
– Multiple and mobile lighting options in our studio mean we can go from scene to scene with no delay.
– The Secret Warehouse is covered by CCTV allowing peace of mind at all times for all parties at the session.
